Springfield’s Turkey Trot: A Thanksgiving Tradition That Gives Back
Thanksgiving in Springfield just hits different, and nothing kicks off the holiday quite like lacing up your shoes and joining more than 7,000 neighbors for the annual Springfield-Greene County Park Board Turkey Trot. This beloved community event brings together runners, walkers, families, dogs, strollers, and every fitness level for a morning built on connection, movement, and giving back.

And this year’s trot comes with a powerful purpose.
Proceeds benefit both the Developmental Center of the Ozarks (DCO) and the Park Board Youth Scholarship Fund, ensuring kids and families in our community have access to vital programs and support. Participants are also encouraged to bring 7 non-perishable food items for Ozarks Food Harvest, helping fill shelves right as the holiday season begins.

Why Springfield Loves This Event
The Turkey Trot is more than a race, it’s a shared moment of community pride. There’s something powerful about starting the holiday with exercise, charity, and fresh air. It’s the “earn your pie” mentality… and honestly? It just makes that Thanksgiving plate taste even better.
Whether you’re chasing a PR or strolling with your family, this tradition is one of the most meaningful ways to begin the holiday.
