Small Town, Big Stage: Strafford’s Championship Moment
The Strafford Lady Indians are back on top, capturing the Pink and White Championship for the first time since 2021, and they did it by making a statement. In this episode of The Starting Lineup, head coach Dustin Larsen breaks down what fueled the title run and why this group continues to rise in Missouri’s competitive Class 4 landscape.

The championship game belonged to sophomore Kinley Larsen, who poured in 30 points with six three-pointers, setting the tone on the biggest stage. But the story goes deeper than one performance. Coach Larsen points to players being locked in, steady growth throughout the season, defensive commitment, and unselfish ball movement as the true drivers behind Strafford’s success. That chemistry has the Lady Indians ranked No. 5 in Class 4, with bigger tests still ahead.
Strafford’s foundation extends far beyond this season. Larsen credits the groundwork laid by past coaches, including Steve Frank, along with strong administrative backing and a deeply invested community. That support allows the program to stay consistent year after year, and to keep its focus on developing leaders, not just athletes. As Larson puts it, “Basketball is what they do, not who they are.”
With senior Elsie Larsen committed to Colorado State and the team preparing for the Sophie Cunningham Classic, Strafford is embracing the spotlight while staying grounded in its identity. This episode offers a look at how a small-town program builds championship habits, sustains success, and continues to represent the Ozarks on a bigger stage.
