Kellen Lindstrom: From SEC Eye-Opener to Mo State Homecoming
Springfield native Kellen Lindstrom has had quite the football journey, from the intense, high-stakes world of the SEC at Tennessee to returning home to Missouri State, ready to make his mark with the Bears.
🎧 Listen to Kellen Lindstrom’s full conversation on The Starting Lineup:
Lindstrom, a former Glendale standout, describes his transfer experience as fast-paced and chaotic, a stark contrast to the careful planning that went into his initial commitment to Tennessee. Navigating the transfer portal required quick decisions, strong family support, and professional guidance, all while weighing opportunities from programs like Utah, Northwestern, and Penn State.
During his time in the SEC, Lindstrom faced jaw-dropping competition, from Neyland Stadium’s massive atmosphere to battles against powerhouse teams like Ohio State and Florida. That eye-opening experience sharpened his skills, both on and off the field, and prepared him for the next chapter of his career.
Back at Missouri State, Lindstrom is ready to embrace his preferred position as a defensive end, working with a “spectacular staff” that includes coaches with experience from Auburn, Florida, and other top programs. He’s also transformed physically, adding roughly 20–25 pounds of muscle while maintaining speed and agility, aiming to compete around 260 lbs.
The decision to return home wasn’t just about football. Lindstrom cites the Bears’ positive trajectory under Coach Wood, the chance to be part of something truly special, and the familiarity of former Glendale teammates on the roster as key factors. With three years of eligibility remaining, he’s ready to contribute, grow, and make an impact both on the field and in the classroom as he continues his Communications studies.
For anyone curious about the real-life highs, lows, and inside workings of college football, Lindstrom’s story offers a front-row seat to the journey from high school star to SEC competitor to hometown hero.
