Reflecting on recent game action, Cantwell points to execution and special teams as the difference between winning and losing at this level. A single breakdown, a blocked punt, a missed assignment, can swing momentum instantly. He also highlights the depth of support surrounding the Hurricanes, with South Florida fully invested in the program and expectations running high every Saturday.
Off the field, the grind is relentless. Cantwell’s days are packed with classes, early workouts, meetings, practice, and film study, leaving little room for downtime. The structure demands discipline and focus, forcing young players to grow up fast while balancing football with academics.
Physically and technically, the transition has required major adjustments. Cantwell has added significant weight through dedicated training and nutrition, while also reworking fundamentals like pass protection and hand placement to fit Miami’s offensive system. Early enrollment, he says, has been invaluable, essentially giving him “spring ball before spring ball” and accelerating his adjustment to the speed of the college game.
