That energy extends across the department, with both men’s and women’s basketball using the transfer portal as a core strategy to build toward 20-win seasons and championship contention. Baseball continues to trend upward as well, stacking strong results and preparing for a major home matchup against Mizzou that’s expected to draw a large crowd. Meanwhile, spring football has shifted to a more controlled installation approach, reflecting roster realities and a focus on health over contact.
The bigger picture, however, is happening off the field. Missouri State is moving forward with major facilities planning, including McDonald Arena renovations scheduled for completion in 2027, along with ongoing discussions around Plaster Stadium improvements. A 10–20 year master plan is also in development, potentially including an indoor practice facility to elevate long-term competitiveness.
At the same time, the department is adjusting to the realities of Conference USA competition, where size, speed, and athleticism continue to rise across the board, while also adapting to the evolving NIL landscape. It highlights a program not just reacting to change, but actively trying to position itself for sustained success in a rapidly shifting college athletics environment.
