Tour de Crawdad: Where Community Shows Up and Impact Rides Out
The Tour de Crawdad has grown into one of the Ozarks’ most meaningful community events, blending energy, competition, and purpose into a single day. Hosted at Wire Road Brewing Company, the event supports Champions Community Kids, an organization focused on empowering youth with unique ability challenges. With ride options spanning 25, 40, and 63 miles, paired with a crawdad cook-off, live music, and a full crawfish boil, it highlights how a well-built event can bring people together while driving real impact.

What separates Champions Community Kids is its mission to shift perspective. The organization is built around the idea of taking kids “out of the corner and putting them in the spotlight,” giving them opportunities to experience moments that might otherwise feel out of reach. That includes stories like a young girl in a wheelchair achieving her dream of becoming a cheerleader, an example that reflects both the emotional and practical impact of the work being done. It highlights how intentional support can create confidence, inclusion, and life-changing experiences.
The event also plays a role beyond fundraising. By creating space for both participating athletes and families, it builds a stronger, more connected community. Able-bodied cyclists walk away with a different perspective on resilience and priorities, while families are supported through initiatives like free event nights that remove financial barriers. Every dollar raised goes directly into programs that support these families, reinforcing a model that is both personal and community-driven.

With more than 300 cyclists expected and registration still open, the momentum around Tour de Crawdad continues to grow. A $50 entry at the door includes the ride, food, and drinks, making it accessible for those still looking to get involved. There’s also a broader conversation around what events like this represent, proof that when a community shows up with purpose, it can create lasting impact.
