A Massive 12-Game Homestand and Fresh Roster Faces

We kicked things off talking about the logistics of a grueling two-week stretch at home. Dan noted that while 12 games in 14 days is intense, the modern Professional Development League (PDL) schedule model providing a built-in Monday off-day is a total lifesaver for the players, staff, and families. With Northwest Arkansas and the Arkansas Travelers coming to town, Springfield fans are getting a first look at high-energy talent being promoted from High-A Peoria. We discussed the buzz surrounding former Springfield standout Josh Baez, who has been absolutely tearing it up for Triple-A Memphis with 25 home runs, making him one of the hottest prospects in all of baseball right now. On our current Double-A squad, guys like Victor Scott II, RJ Yeager, and Dakota Harris have been turning heads with electric speed on the basepaths and red-hot bats.

Promotions Galore: 5,000 Hot Dogs, Fireworks, and… Snipe Hunting?

Texas League Stability & MLB Expansion Rumors

Our resident expert analysts, Ned Reynolds, Scott Puryear, and Art Haines, couldn’t let Dan leave without diving into the business side of minor league baseball. Dan gave us great insight into the stability of the Texas League under the current 10-year PDL agreement signed in 2021. While the current landscape is secure, Dan put on his “fan hat” to speculate on the future. If Major League Baseball expands by two teams in the coming years, cities like Austin, Texas, and Oklahoma City make perfect geographic sense to cause a trickling shift in Triple-A and Double-A alignments.
