We had a fantastic time in the studio morning-show style catching up with one of the most dynamic multi-sport athletes in the Ozarks right now: Marshfield High School standout Kendyl Dolan. Fresh off a stellar high school campaign and a massive community showing at the annual Marshfield Fourth of July parade, Kendyl is packing her bags for an unbelievable national opportunity in Philadelphia tied directly to Major League Baseball’s All-Star weekend. She stopped by to give us the inside scoop on her grueling summer schedule, her recruiting journey, and what it means to represent southwest Missouri on a national stage.

Punching a Ticket to Philadelphia

Kendyl is heading out east to compete in an elite tournament featuring eight teams, each representing a Major League Baseball franchise. She is one of only two non-local players selected from her Warrensburg-based travel squad, “The YES Team,” making her a singular local representative from our neck of the woods. The action kicks off with opening ceremonies followed by intense pool play at the Urban Youth Academy, culminating in a potential championship appearance at the historic University of Pennsylvania stadium. As one of only two primary pitchers on the roster, we expect to see Kendyl getting a ton of work in the circle against the best youth talent in the country.

Dominating the Ozark Mountain Conference

Back home, Kendyl has been absolute money for Marshfield. We looked back at a tremendous spring softball season where her squad battled past districts all the way to sectionals against the defending state champions. Though they fell just short, the future is incredibly bright with seven seniors and the vast majority of their powerhouse lineup returning next year. Marshfield has absolutely owned the Ozark Mountain Conference, winning or sharing the softball league title every single year of its existence, including a co-championship split with Carl Junction this past season.

The Ultimate Multi-Sport Athlete

What makes Kendyl so fascinating is that she doesn’t just stick to the pitching rubber. She is a true multi-sport threat. We dove into her time on the hardwood playing guard for the Lady Jays basketball program, which is transitioning to new head coach Bobby Sangster. If that wasn’t enough, Kendyl also served as the starting quarterback for Marshfield’s inaugural girls’ flag football team. It’s a fast-growing sport, and right now, Nixa is the only other school in the immediate area playing it officially, leading to some intense local showdowns.

Next Stops: Kansas City and College Recruiting

There is no rest for the elite. Kendyl talked about her frantic weekly schedule, driving up to Kansas City three times a week for practices and games just to stay sharp and qualified. All that hard work is paying dividends on the recruiting trail. While she’s caught the eye of basketball scouts, her primary focus is on the diamond, where she is heavily eyeing a future with Jefferson College (Jeff Co) in Hillsboro, Missouri—a perennially strong junior college program.
